U14 West Cork Finals   29/05/2016

Ahamilla  Clonakilty, played host to the U14 A, B& C Finals recently and the finals proved to be exciting and nail biting, with six teams giving it their all to bring glory and silverware to their clubs.

In the first game, the C final, Beara and O Donovan Rossa's second team battled it out for honours. Despite a gallant effort by the Skibb girls it was the girls from Beara who secured the victory winning comprehensively in the end. Sarah Hanley Murphy Beara was presented with Player of the Game for her outstanding performance in the forward line.

The B final, between Courcey Rovers and Keelnameela proved to be an exciting game, with both sides giving it their all.

With nothing separating these two teams in the league, it was Keelnameela who dominated the opening exchanges. Courcey’s never gave up and set about reducing the deficit. But despite their efforts they were unable to bridge the gap and Keelnameela were crowned U-14 B Champions 2016. The player of the game was awarded to Maire Phayer full back for Keelnameela.

Kinsale and Bandon contested the A final and what a game this proved to be. Both teams served up an absolute cracker of game with the final outcome not known until the last blast of the whistle.

This game was end to end stuff, with both teams battling hard for those all important scores. Kinsale started well and at half time lead by 7 points.  On the resumption, Bandon settled and took the game to Kinsale.  They set about reducing the lead and their efforts paid off when with a few minutes to go they scored a cracker of a goal to put them one point ahead. Kinsale went looking for the all important equalizer but the clock ran out and referee Owen Buns blew the final whistle to bring an end to a game of football that showcased all that is good about ladies football. The player of the game was presented to the Bandon Captain Anna Daly.
